Scholarship Program
The Carson Scholars Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4–11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving theircommunities. Scholars are recognized not only for their achievements inside the classroom, but also for their commitment to making a difference in the world around them.
Who We Support
- Students in grades 4–11 at accredited K–12 schools.
- Nominees who maintain a minimum 3.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
- Young people who demonstrate strong humanitarian qualities through community service.
How It Works
- An educator nominates one student from their school.
- The student submits an application.
- Selected students are named Carson Scholars.

- A $1,000 college scholarship invested.
- An Olympic-sized medal and certificate of achievement.

The Ben Carson Reading Project helps schools create inviting reading roomswhere children can discover the joy of independent reading. These cozy, literacy-rich spaces are designed to make books exciting and accessible for every child.

Patterson HBCU Scholarship
The Patterson HBCU Scholarship is a pilot program of the Carson Scholars Fund that supports Carson Scholar alumni attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Created in partnership with author and philanthropist James Patterson, this scholarship helps future leaders continue their education at institutions with a rich legacy of excellence.
